New Balance Celebrate the 991’s 20th Anniversary with Two Grey Colourways

New Balance is celebrating the 20th anniversary of the 991 this year. To kick start the festivities, the Boston-based brand is releasing a commemorative pack comprising two iterations of the 991.

The 991 launched in 2001 as the predecessor to the 990v2, and was the first 99x series sneaker to feature an ABZORB window in the forefoot and the heel. It also introduced a sleeker toe box and superior comfort to the mix, paving the way for subsequent NB models.

Arriving in one men’s and one women’s colourway, each pair boasts a scheme reminiscent of the debut colourway from 2001. Coming through with Made in England construction, the sneakers are made of premium pig suede overlays and breathable mesh bases, with darker accents hitting on the collars. On the heels, you’ll find ‘2001’ embroidered to denote the pairs’ celebratory nature, while the insides of the tongue labels also feature allusions to the milestone. As always, the sole unit comes equipped with ABZORB cushioning for a tried-and-true comfy ride.

The ‘20th Anniversary’ New Balance 991 colourways will drop via New Balance’s webstores on March 19.
